July Update

Oh I can not believe another month has gone by! Which also means my little baby is almost 3 months old (two more days!) Summer is flying by! We have been staying busy, and taking advantage of all the sunshine though!

Connor has become very loving and protective of his brother. He is slowly getting used to the idea of being a big brother! Shortly after we returned back from Florida, Logan had to go for a checkup! (which btw he's super healthy, perfect, and fat!) They had to give him a shot, and Logan screamed realllllly loud. Connor was very worried, and concerned about him. Whenever Logan cries Connor has to make sure I know he's crying. Sometimes he tries to give him his binky, hold a bottle, and bring me diapers/wipes! I couldnt ask for a better helper! He even plays with him some!

Connor's vocabulary is exploding more and more everyday. I can have real conversations with him now. His sentences are so detailed with so many adjectives! He still loves reviewing colors, letters, and counting! I love how interested he is in learning!

Logan also is do great! His head and upper body control gets better everyday! He is staying awake for longer periods, smiling, reaching for objects, etc! He loves to sit up and see everything that is going on! He also adores watching Connor play! I can't wait for him to get a little bigger so he can interact with him more! My favorite new thing he's doing-- the laugh!! I love baby laughs!

We have been going to our pool a lot! If Todd is off I will go by myself for an hour or so during nap time to read. Sometimes, I will take Connor with me, and we go in the big pool to practice swimming! When Todd is working I will take both boys in the evening (when sun isnt as strong), and Connor plays with the other kdis in the little pool!

One highlight of the month would be our slip and slide attempt. I bought one at the end of last summer. It's been sitting in our garage because I figured we should wait until next summer when C is a bit older. One morning Todd was talking about slip and slides and his childhood memories about them. I told him we had one-- next thing I know we were setting it up!

However, as you can see in this video clip-- it didn't go as planned :D

So, we played in the little pool instead. There was one point that we were all in this little thing! haha

July Florida Trip

We were in Florida from July 1-16. Todd only came for the first half, then flew back to go back to work. It was a nice getaway as always. Also great to see family, and friends. We took advantage of the beach, pool, and boat! We always do the same stuff when we are there, but it's so cool to see how much more Connor appreciates it as he gets older. This trip was special because it was Logan's first time though! He also enjoyed the beach and boat!

Logan met his Uncle Dan for the first time. They were able to sneak in some cuddles! :D

Connor spent a lot of time outside with "Peepaw." They even had a little water play set up!

Todd and I got to have a date day at Universal (thanks mom & dad). That day was a lot of fun because we met up with some of Todd's old college friends. Connor was very well behaved (as always), but Logan was kind of trying since he has to be held ALL the time!

One cool part of this trip was that we got to watch the last shuttle launch. I grew up watching them launch, and it wasn't until I was older that I realized not everyone had the privilege of standing in their backyard to watch. My dad was able to leave work early the morning of, and we went out on the boat to see it! The weather was pretty cloudy, but we were able to see the launch pad, and the glazing fire as it took off into the sky! I am glad my boys were able to see it! Even if they are too young to remember!

While in town, we got to spend some time with my best friend Shea and her family. Connor loves Joey, and all the cool toys he has at his house! We went to the Children's Museum in Daytona, went out to eat, beach, pool, etc. How cute is this picture of them taking a bath?!

I had this urge to attempt some water skiing while in town this time. I used to love it, and spent a lot of time doing it! It killed my arms, but it was good to know I could still do it! Todd gave it a try for the first time-- let's just say he's going to stick to snow skiing!

We spent 4th of July at my mom's friends party. There was lots of yummy food. That evening we went out on the boat to watch fireworks. Logan stayed home with Meemaw. Last year the fireworks freaked Connor out. I wasn't sure how he would do this time, but he was really cool with the idea! We had a good time watching all the colors in the sky! (Until he found an airplane.. and that was just more fun to watch).

The trip flew by (as always), but it was good to see everyone, and to show off my new bundle of joy! :D Plus, the boys love their "Meemaw" and "Peepaw"!

June Update

Well besides the already blogged about highlights of the month:
- Logan getting sick
- His First Smile
- Air & Space Museum

June was sunny and happy! Connor still isnt tooo sure of his brother. There are times when he will show interest in him, and others when he wants nothing to do with him. However, I did manage to get a picture! Both boys are doing well though! Learning, and growing more everyday! They are my everythings, and words can not express how much I love them!

Our community had a family pool party that we decided to go to. It wasn't tooo exciting, but better then sitting in the house! Plus, Connor and Logan both love the pool!

We went to Brookside Gardens with our playgroup. There were some really nice gardens to look at, and the butterfly house was awesome!

My cousin Sam had to babysit 3 little boys, so we decided to go to Chuck-E-Cheese! Connor has never been to one, so it was cool to take him! We had a good time, and he liked playing the games designed for his age!
(Thank God for baby carriers... I dont know how I could chase a toddler around without two hands!)

Connor is such a good boy! He loves to help me cook in the kitchen! One of his favorite tasks is chucking corn!

Logan has started reaching for objects-- he loves to sit in this chair for a very short period of time to bat at these hanging things. Overall, he still loves to be held! Can't blame him though!

Well, I think that's all! Until next month!

Air & Space Museum

We had a family outing today to the National Air & Space Museum. We decided to go there because Connor is obsessed with airplanes. He was honestly in heaven the entire time we were there. We took a lot of airplane pictures, and I plan on making Connor an "airplane" book later on this week!

After the museum, we went to visit Todd's dad for a little bit. Then we went to the park near his house. I don't know why we never went sooner. It was soo much fun! The park was train themed, and they had a big train to ride!

It was fun! I would enjoy doing this outing again!

Our hospital stay..

Our month of June didn't start out very well. Logan turned one month old--but we spent it in the hospital. :/ On June 2nd, I noticed he was a bit more sleepy as normal. I kept trying to wake him up so he would sleep better that evening. Then around 9oclock that night, I took him out of his swing, and noticed he was BURNING up. I asked Todd if he felt warm to him, and he agreed. I took his temperature, and it was 103!! For a baby this young you are suppose to call doctor at 100.4.. so this was super hott! I called his doctor immediately. She seemed very concerned, told us to take him to ER ASAP. My heart sank. I was so scared, and worried. When we got there they did a bunch of tests, took blood, did a spinal tap, chest xray, etc. It was soooo hard watching my little baby go through all that. What was scarier is they couldn't find anything wrong with him. We ended up spending 5 days in the hospital with constant fevers. They determined it was something viral. What confirmed it was Connor's high fever he got day 4 of our hospital stay. A few days after we got out of the hospital the last of his test results came back, and he was positive for Coxsackie virus. Which is what both boys ended up having! Not a fun experience, and I don't wish that on anybody!

We are all healthy now, and good to go! Thank God!

Thank you everyone for your prayers, phone calls, and love! A special thanks to Aunt Val for taking Connor overnight.

May Flowers.. and new babies :D

The month of May was spent adjusting to our new little one. Which didnt take long at all. Connor spent the night at with Aunt Val & Uncle David when we were in the hospital. My parents came up the day he was born, and stayed with us for a few days. Which was helpful since they woke up with Connor in the morning, and we got to sleep in a little and catch up on sleep. :D By the time Logan was three days old we were off to the National Zoo in DC. Which was fun, and great for everyone to get some fresh air (especially after being in a hospital room!)

Todd's dad and stepmom brought us a wonderful Italian dinner, and Todd's Aunt Faith brought us a sausage chili meal another night as well! It was so nice having people help in different ways, and we are very grateful for it.

When we first brought Logan home from the hospital we gave Connor his new clubhouse we got for both of them.

It feels like we have always had two little boys.. things really don't feel that different. Logan fits right in!! (I guess we will keep him :D). So far he seems to be a happy and content baby! It's easy to tell his cries apart.. and we already know what they mean! I think having a second one is WAY easier then the first! Breastfeeding is like riding a bike! Feels like I never stopped.. and is so much easier to do when having Connor run around instead of having to hold a bottle! He is such a cuddle bug, and screams whenever someone is not holding him!

At first Connor wasn't a fan. He didn't seemed to phased by him.. but he's slowly warming up to the idea of being a big brother. He is doing good with the idea that mommy cant hold him all the time now, which I think might be harder on me then him. :/

It's hard to believe we have a little two year old now, and a new baby boy to love!

We ended the month with a fun summer bbq and memorial day party! A perfect way to start SUMMER!

Connor's Second Birthday

It honestly feels like yesterday when I found out I was pregnant with Connor. I can NOT believe he just turned two years old. WOW how time flies. Also thinking back to the helpless newborn he once was.. to now a mini functioning human.. its amazing.

Photobucket

Connor the independent and social helper..
He feeds himself with a fork and a spoon.. he can pour his own drinks into a regular cup and drink out of with very little spills. He brings his own plate over to the sink.. he throws his trash away... he knows how to ask for snacks and how to get himself one. He knows how to put away his shoes, his laundry, and his toys. He loves to open and close doors.. he is beginning to be able to dress/ undress himself. He ADORES people. He loves to socialize.. with kids his own age, and other adults. He loves to blink his eyes, and show off his flirtatious smile to get people's attention. He loves to laugh and giggle. He loves to help me cook. He is learning how to pour ingredients into measuring cups, and how to read the numbers on it right now!

Photobucket

Connor's memory and cognitive skills...
His memory is overwhelmingly impressive. He refers to himself by his name, along with other people. He knows what everyday objects are called, and refers to them by their names and uses as well. Including body parts and animals. He knows all of his colors, shapes, and can recognize and recall 90% of the alphabet. He can also recognize his own name when its written. He names people in photographs, and pictures in book.. and then applies it to real life. He can route count to three.. but only understands the concepts of numbers one and two. He is beginning to show an understanding of opposites. He knows big/ little, open/ close, over/ under, wet/ dry, and hot/ cold. Right now we are working on classifying and sorting objects! He's catching on pretty quick.

Physically Connor is doing great too! He is 29lbs.. hasnt gained much since he was ten months old. He is no longer in the 90th percentiles! He is starting to get taller and thinner now! He loves to run, throw balls, walk down and upstairs while holding onto the railing, he can walk on his tip toes, and attempts to jump (its kinda a funny sight). He can turn pages of a book, his pencil grip is perfect, and he loves to fill containers with small objects. He can draw circles, and 'airplanes' (it actually does kind of resemble one)!

Connor the creative kid..
Connor LOVES doing art projects with me. He loves to use different things to paint, and different materials to create things! He loves when I give him stuff to decorate, and then I turn it into a fish or other creature. Makes him crack up! He loves to use glue, crayons, and markers and everything else you can think of! He has most of this in his reach so he can access it whenever he feels the need to be creative!

I could go on and on about how perfect he is. I love him to pieces, and I am excited to continue to watch him grow. Although.. its going a bit quick for me and I wish I could press a pause button. This summer we have a lot of fun things planned that I think he will really enjoy!

For his birthday we had an awesome turnout at his Elmo party. I took him to a party store a couple weeks ago, and he picked out decorations himself. My parents came up from Florida again, we had people from NY, and around here! I am so happy that everyone was able to make it, and that the weather cooperated.
